Perennials Select a sunny or part shady location depending on your plant cultural requirements Think ahead ,prepare planting area and holes in advance ,The job of planting will go faster and your plants won't need to remain in their bags or pots any longer then needed Help you plants to get of to a good start by selecting a shady day or in the late afternoon .Try to shade them with some branches of trees for a few days if needed ,ever greens would be best Dig a hole twice as deep and wide as the root ball. Set the plant in the planting hole ,at proper depth ,never set them to high or low .Spread roots evenly.Back fill soil around roots.Firm the soil gently as you fill the hole, making sure that roots and soil are in contact. Eliminate air pockets ,settle soil and bring soil into firm contact with roots ,by running water slowly over the root area .A1- 2 inch layer of mulch is recommended ,to keep the soil from drying out. Please keep plants watered for the first year,after plants are well established they needs little to no water. Bulbs Position the bulb at it's proper depth .Generally bulbs should be planted at the depth of 2 1/2 times it's diameter In well drained or sandy soil ,you can plant an inch or two deeper Be sure to water you newly planted bulbs after planting to get the roots growing
